TAWAH Tanzania Signs Strategic Partnership with UNDP to Advance Sustainable Construction and Women’s Empowerment
On April 8, 2026, TAWAH Tanzania officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with United Nations Development Programme Tanzania, marking the beginning of a strategic collaboration focused on sustainable construction, low-carbon housing, and women’s empowerment within the building sector. This partnership is strongly aligned with the global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), reinforcing a shared commitment to inclusive and environmentally responsible development.
Through this collaboration, TAWAH aims to scale innovative, community-driven approaches that enhance the value of locally available construction materials such as earth, stones, and sand. The initiative will also contribute to policy influence in the sector, while strengthening the capacity of small-scale miners, women builders, and local communities ensuring that sustainability and inclusion go hand in hand.
The signing ceremony took place at the TAWAH Vocational Training Centre in Mhaga village, attended by a distinguished delegation from UNDP Tanzania led by Resident Representative Shigeki Komatsubara, alongside Godfrey Nyamrunda. The TAWAH delegation was led by Board Member and CEO of DCB Commercial Bank, Sabasaba Kitewita Moshingi, together with Executive Director Victoria Marwa Heilman.TAWAH extends sincere appreciation to local government leaders, media representatives, and the Mhaga community for their presence and continued support during this important milestone.
