Giving back to Lugalo Secondary School is the major force behind this project. At Lugalo School, many female students are dropping out because of unplanned pregnancy and final examination performance has seen a decline each year. The Association of Lugalo Secondary School Alumni see an opportunity to assist the school as a way of giving back to the students, teachers, and community. Alumni members contacted TAWAH to conduct a study and provide advice on strategies to reduce the rate of pregnancies and improve students’ performance. TAWAH’s study helped to identify priority areas for the Alumni Association to address in their efforts to help the school.
Immediate priority areas include: completing a school periphery wall, providing learning and teaching materials for students with special needs, building new dormitories and establishing more extracurricular and social after school programs for the students.
