TAWAH and Pongwe School Celebrate Completion of New Classrooms
Oh Happy Day! What a happy day December 5th 2018 was because the students at Pongwe Primary School got their new classrooms. There was singing and dancing on this very special, joyous and rewarding day. We thank mighty God for helping the TAWAH team to be able to successfully complete this project. The smiles on the children’s faces says it all!
We all gathered at Pongwe Primary School with the Tanga District Commissioner Hon. Thobias Mwilapwa to inaugurate the new classrooms designed and built by TAWAH. Together with the generous support of sponsors from in and outside Tanzania, TAWAH built three new classrooms using innovative, environmentally friendly and low cost technology. These classrooms will improve the learning environment for special needs children as well as serve as a template for future classroom construction at Pongwe and other schools in Tanzania.
Tanzania Women Architects for Humanity (TAWAH) was formed by Tanzanian women architects and scientists committed to enhancing social justice by mobilizing women to spearhead building adequate shelter in marginalized communities.
